University Of The Pacific - A. P. Hill Family Study Area
Map SatelliteThis research area lies on the borderline between the foothill woodland and the yellow pine forest. The former is dominated by canyon live and California black oaks, Quercus chrysolepis and Quercus kelloggii. In the latter forest, in addition to the Western yellow pine, Pinus ponderosa, there are incense cedars, Calocedrus decurrens, and Douglas fir, Pseudotsuga menziesii.
There is an all-year stream flowing through the property. The area is primarily steep, heavily wooded hillsides but there is an open section with grassland by the stream.
Integrity: There is no present development on the property. The area is being managed to restore and or retain the original vegetation.
