Davis Point
Map SatelliteThe formations in this area are similar to those of Lone Tree Point 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) southwest. However, here the Pinole tuff of Pliocene volcanic origin is present. Near the water level is a formation of the San Pablo group dating to the Miocene.
A variety of pecten fossils is found in the fossiliferous strata. In the Pleistocene sandstones there are fossils of shallow-water oysters.
Integrity: Though the area is surrounded by industrial installations, the bluff face is relatively undisturbed.
