Red Mountain

>Map     >Satellite

Several plant communities are found on this generally steep-sided but flat-topped mountain.

Western white pine, Pinus monticola, and lodgepole pine, Pinus contorta, forests cover much of the area. Montane chaparral is also found in the area.

On the mountain top there are several meadows with Darlingtonia californica present. This is found on the serpentine outcrops.

Integrity: A lookout station atop the mountain and a gravel road system through the area have caused some disturbance; however, the greatest disturbance has come from off-road vehicles in the meadows.

Use: Research, educational, light recreational
