>Map >Satellite On a south-facing chaparral-covered slope above Martinez Creek is one of the larger and the southernmost known stand of the uncommon El Dorado manzanita, Arctostaphylos nissenana. This Arctostaphylos is known from only a few other sites in the County. Occurring with it in the chaparral are whiteleaf manzanita, Arctostaphylos viscida, chamise, Adenostoma fasciculatum, and scrub oak, Quercus berberidifolia. At the base of the slope, by the creek, there are Douglas fir, Pseudotsuga menziesii, and ponderosa pine, Pinus ponderosa. Integrity: Pristine, but development is encroaching.
