>Map >Satellite This is a small pond on the southwestern slopes of the Tahoe Basin. Utricularia sp. and the yellow pond-lily, Nuphar luteum ssp. polysepalum, are found here in varying abundance. Vegetation surrounding the pond includes a red fir forest with Abies magnifica, white fir, Abies concolor, mountain ash, Sorbus sp., and stands of quaking aspen, Populus tremuloides. There is some montane chaparral. The yellow-legged frog, Rana boylei, occurs here. Integrity: Though relatively accessible, the area is largely undisturbed. Use: Research, educational, observational.
