Teakettle Experimental Forest

This experimental forest is primarily a red fir forest, with Abies magnifica the dominant in the wooded area and with sugar pine, Pinus lambertiana, present.

A portion of the area is in montane chaparral and meadows, and there are substantial areas of bare granitic and basaltic outcrops.

The animal life is representative of the lodgepole - pine - red - fir belt of the central Sierra and includes such species as the chickaree, Tamiasciurus douglasi.

Integrity: The area is an experimental forest.

Use: Research, educational, observational.
