North Trinity Mountain Area

>Map     >Satellite

A large stand of noble fir, Abies procera, which here is probably at its southern limit, is the prime feature of this area. Additionally there are subalpine meadows and several small lakes near the headwaters of Tish Tang a Tang Creek.

This area is the type locality for the rare Lupinus tracyi.

Integrity: A low quality road and several trails traverse the area. The meadows are grazed and have suffered; however, the forest is virtually pristine. A proposal has been made to designate this as a Research Natural Area.

Use: Research, educational, observational.
