Puffin Rock

>Map     >Satellite

This small rock, lying 245 meters (8OO feet) off the coast north of Trinidad Head, supports a variable-sized breeding colony of seabirds. Those reported nesting here include the tufted puffin, Lunda cirrhata, pigeon guillemot, Cepphus columba, pelagic cormorant, Phalacrocorax pelagicus, and black oyster-catcher, Haematopus bachmani.

Integrity: There are occasional visitors which have, at times, disturbed the breeding populations. The rock has been proposed as a part of the seabird breeding rocks National Wildlife Refuge.

Use: Research, educational, observational. Should not be visited during breeding season.
