>Map >Satellite Some 8 kilometers (5 miles) offshore, Redding Rock is a minor sea-bird rookery. Breeding species recorded here are the pelagic cormorant, Phalacrocorax pelagicus, Brandt's cormorant, Phalacrocorax penicillatus, and the common murre, Uria aalge. During the summer it also serves as a loafing rock for California sea lions, Zalophus californianus. Integrity: Aside from a small abandoned light station, the rock is virtually undisturbed.
