>Map >Satellite Approximately 1.5 kilometers (1 mile) north of the mouth of Little River and perhaps 100 meters (300 feet) offshore is this small rock which has sufficient soil to permit the nesting of sea birds that require burrows. Some 300 pairs of Leach's petrel, Oceanodroma leucorhoa, nest here as does the fork-tailed petrel, Oceanodroma furcata. Integrity: Virtually undisturbed. This rock is included in a proposed Federal wildlife refuge. Use: Research, educational, observational. Ref: Osborne, T. O., 1972. Ecology and Avian Use of the Coastal Rocks of Northern California.
