Brite Creek Area

The lower reaches of Brite Creek, near its confluence with Tehachapi Creek, is typical of the riparian association of the Tehachapi Pass area. Sycamore, Platanus racemosa, is found in the vicinity of the stream, while blue and valley oak, Quercus douglasii and Quercus lobata, and gray pine, Pinus sabiniana, are found on the near hillsides. Rabbit brush, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, buttercup, Ranunculus hebecarpus, Wyethia ovata, Lomatium dasycarpum ssp. tomentosum, and Eriogonum inerme are abundant.

Integrity: A highway and railroad cut through the area.

Use: Research, educational, observational.
