Map Satellite The dominant vegetation in this area, which lies northwest of Bear Valley, is an excellent example of a foothill woodland. Such species as valley oak, Quercus lobata, canyon live oak, Quercus chrysolepis, gray pine, Pinus sabiniana, and California buckeye, Aesculus californica, are present. Along the creek there is a riparian community with sycamore, Platanus racemosa, cottonwood, Populus fremontii, and arroyo willow, Salix lasiolepis. The animal population is relatively abundant and includes the uncommon spotted bat, Euderma maculata. The endangered California condor, Gymnogyps californianus, has been observed in the area. Integrity: The area is close to the developments in Bear Valley but, though there is a dirt road in a part of the canyon, most of it is virtually undisturbed. Use: Private October 1977
