Complexion Springs

Map     Satellite

These springs, located within Indian Valley, are exceedingly alkaline, with a pH of 12.7. The sodium, potassium, fluorine and bromine content of the spring water is within ten percent of that of present-day sea water. The youngest rocks in the area are Jurassic or Cretaceous, and it has been suggested that the water may be a sample of only slightly altered sea water of these eras.

The water is reacting with olivine and pyroxene to form serpentine.

Integrity: Virtually undisturbed.

Use: Private
