Map Satellite Manning Flat supports an intermittent vernal pool; some years there is a vernal pool with the typical plant associations, in other years the area is dry. Three rare plants are reported from this area, Lasthenia burkei, Navarretia pubescens and Parvisedum leiocarpum. Integrity: Several decades ago a drainage channel was opened to Thurston Lake to the north, with the result that the flat is being continually eroded. It has suffered from motorcycle use. Use: Private February 1977
