Rodman Slough

Map     Satellite

Rodman Slough borders the channel of Middle and Scotts Creeks as they join and enter Clear Lake at its northern end.

The slough consists predominantly of cattail, Typha latifolia, with tules, Scirpus spp., and willow, Salix spp.

A number of birds breed in the area, including the Western grebe, Aechmophorus occidentalis. The slough is also an important nursery for many of the small lake fish.

Integrity: The eastern side has been leveed and a portion has been dredged. The condition of the marsh varies from year to year depending upon the level of the lake. Pasturage is encroaching upon the area.

Use: Research, educational, observational, in the public portion. The remainder is private.
