Map Satellite Included in this area is the northeastern portion of the Amedee Mountains, a few kilometers east of Honey Lake. Vegetation consists of a relatively sparse Great Basin sagebrush scrub, with Artemisia tridentata dominant. There are isolated patches of grassland and, along the intermittent streams in the canyons, some riparian growth. Animal life is typical of the region. A variety of raptors, including golden eagles, Aquila chrysaetos, are frequently observed here. Mostly barren, with steep cliffs and bluffs, this rocky area is underlain by Pliocene pyroclastic volcanic rock. Integrity: Virtually undisturbed. Use: Research, educational, observational.
