Map Satellite This area contains a typical sagebrush scrub community and is located on the southern boundary of the Madeline Plains. The basin sagebrush, Artemisia tridentata, is the dominant, with Eriogonum spp., Astragalus spp., and other species present. It is the type and only known locality for the rare Lomatium ravenii. The Madeline Plains are the dry bed of a Pleistocene lake. Integrity: A highway and railway bisect the area, but most of the area is undisturbed. Use: Private April 1976
