Troxel Point

Map     Satellite

This long, narrow peninsula, jutting out in the alkaline Eagle Lake, supports an excellent example of the sagebrush scrub of the Modoc Plateau and the Great Basin. Dominants here include Western juniper, Juniperus occidentalis, rabbit brush, Chrysothamnus nauseosus ssp., and basin sagebrush, Artemisia tridentata. See also Rocky Point.

The Point is underlain by the Pliocene basalt which covers much of the surrounding area.

Integrity: Relatively undisturbed.

Use: Research, educational. Access by boat or by private road.
