Coastal sage scrub covers much of this area and includes California sagebrush, Artemisia californica, black and white sage, Salvia mellifera and Salvia apiana, as well as Eriogonum sp.  There are remnants of the southern oak woodland, primarily Quercus agrifolia, and some toyon, Heteromeles arbutifolia.  A number of excellent stands of Southern California black walnut, Juglans californica, some of the best remaining in the State, are found here.

There is a wide variety of animals, typical of the Southern California sage and oak woodland areas. This particular area serves as a refuge for a number of species including deer, Odocoileus hemionus, and coyote, Canis latrans.

Several geological formations underlie the area: the Glendora volcanics and the closely associated volcanic conglomerates and tuff, both of the mid-Miocene age, and the upper Miocene Puente formation with siltstones, shales and fine sandstones, in places almost appearing to be diatomite.  There are Miocene fossils in the area.

Integrity:  The vegetation is disturbed, as it is grazed annually.  Development is encroaching on all sides.

Use:  Research, educational, observational, Most of the area is private.
