Map Satellite A kilometer or so downstream from the Friant Dam and north of the San Joaquin River is an excellent example of varved lake sediments. Most of the sediments are almost glass-like volcanic material, pumicite. The sediments appear to have been deposited by catastrophic Pleistocene floods. Integrity: There is quarrying in the area. Use: Private September 1977
