Map Satellite These dunes, which include both stabilized and unstabilized, are the highest in the County. Vegetation includes both coastal strand and coastal scrub. Two rare plants are found in the area, Tanacetum camphoratum and Cordylanthus maritimus ssp. palustris. There are vernal pools in the area. Animal life is typical of the area and there is an abundance of dune insects. Numerous shorebirds feed in the area. Integrity: There are various recreational facilities in the area and the dunes are being impacted by hang-gliders. Use: Research, educational, observational. Portions private. The Pacific Marine Station of the University of the Pacific is nearby. February 1978
