Map Satellite Novato Creek, from its mouth to a point approximately 5 kilometers (3 miles) inland, is bordered by a band of salt marsh. Cord grass, Spartina foliosa, and pickleweed, Salicornia virginica, are the dominants. Two endangered species occur here, the salt-marsh harvest mouse, Reithrodontomys raviventris, and the California clapper rail, Rallus longirostris obsoletus. Integrity: Sections of the creek are leveed and, while there has been some impact from surrounding agricultural lands, the marsh is in good condition. Use: Research, educational, observational.
