Map Satellite During the winter months this area supports one of the larger wintering colonies of the monarch butterfly, Danaus plexippus, in Marin County. (See also Audubon Monarch Grove, Pacific Grove Monarch Butterfly Trees, Salmon Creek Monarch Butterfly Trees and Natural Bridges State Beach.)
The resting trees are eucalyptus and Monterey pine, Pinus radiata. Marin County is near the northern limit for the winter range of this butterfly species.
Integrity: The trees are in a residential area.
