Map Satellite Bower Cave consists of at least two parts. The outer portion resembles an artificial excavation, rather than a natural cavern. The cavity is 33 meters (109 feet) deep, 33 meters (110 feet) long, and 27 meters (90 feet) wide. At the bottom of the cavern is a pool. Several large big-leaf maple, Acer macrophyllum, grow from the floor of the cave, as do a number of ferns and other plants. The inner section, which is somewhat smaller than the outer, is accessible only through an underwater entrance. This part is almost completely filled with water. The cave lies in a Paleozoic marine limestone and contains various limestone formations. Integrity: The outer portion of the cave contains a ladder and walkway. Use: Private December 1979
