Map Satellite In this canyon, which has an intermittent creek feeding into the Merced River, the dominant vegetation is chaparral. Chamise, Adenostoma fasciculatum, is the main component of the community here, though the toyon, Heteromeles arbutifolia, is conspicuous. The rare Clarkia rostrata is found here. Integrity: Highway 49 traverses the length of the canyon; however, the vegetation is virtually undisturbed. Use: Private March 1977
