Map Satellite Located in southern Mendocino County near the Lake County boundary, Red Mountain (South) supports a dense and large stand of the Sargent cypress, Cupressus sargentii. It is a somewhat isolated forest, the nearest population lying some 40 kilometers (25 miles) to the southwest. The soil is of the Henneke series and is on serpentine. Integrity: There are numerous bulldozer cuts. Use: Research, educational, observational. September 1975
