Map Satellite Located on the eastern slope of the Warner Mountains, this area includes a mixed conifer forest which grades to a typical Great Basin sagebrush scrub in the lower reaches. The conifer forest includes white fir, Abies concolor, which is dominant in the upper elevations, and Jeffrey and ponderosa pines, Pinus jeffreyi and Pinus ponderosa. Quaking aspen, Populus tremuloides, and water birch, Betula occidentalis, are also found in this area. Basin sagebrush, Artemisia tridentata, is the dominant in the scrub. Along Emerson Creek there is a deep gorge cut through Tertiary rhyolite. Integrity: There are some trails and campsites in the area. A portion is within the South Warner Wilderness Area. Use: Educational, research, observational, light recreational, on public portion. April 1976
