Fairchild Swamp

A small stream with a freshwater marsh and grassy, moist area lies in the center of this depression which is bordered by sagebrush scrub and northern juniper woodland. Basin sagebrush, Artemisia tridentata, and Western juniper, Juniperus occidentalis, are prominent in the perimeter vegetation.

During the migratory season various waterfowl, including Canada geese, Branta canadensis, mallards, Anas platyrhynchos, and pintail, Anas acuta, frequent the area, with some remaining to nest.

Pronghorn, Antilocapra americana, are frequently sighted here.

Integrity: The area is used for cattle grazing.
