McCluskey Slough

Map     Satellite

Inland from Zmudowski Beach State Park is the McCluskey Slough. Though primarily a freshwater area, there is an occasional salt-water or brackish-water influence. The open-water area varies considerably in size, depending upon the season.

In the surrounding marsh, Typha sp. and Scirpus sp. are the dominants. Willows, Salix sp., occur here, also. The area is utilized by migratory birds, including numerous ducks and other waterfowl.

Integrity: Agricultural activities are impinging on the margins of the marsh area and portions have been turned into farmland. Agricultural wastes may be impacting the water.

Use: Private
