Map Satellite On the floor of this steep-sided canyon is a stand of redwood, Sequoia sempervirens. This is the furthermost, some 68 kilometers (42 miles), from the ocean of any redwood stand. The grove lies in a protected pocket. The canyon has been cut through a Pleistocene non-marine sedimentary deposit. Integrity: Virtually undisturbed, though there are houses and a road immediately to the north of the canyon. Use: Private January 1977
