Map Satellite Along the Truckee River is a small area where the rare and endangered Truckee barberry, Berberis aquifolium var. repens, is found, growing in loam sheltered by boulders. The plants are 1.5 - 2 meters (5-8 feet) above the summer water level. Plants found in association with the barberry include black cottonwood, Populus trichocarpa, mountain alder, Alnus tenuifolia, Western choke cherry, Prunus virginiana var. demissa, willow, Salix lutea var. watsonii, and wood rose, Rosa woodsii var. ultramontana.
