Map Satellite This area supports a typical yellow (ponderosa) pine forest. The dominant trees are ponderosa pine, Pinus ponderosa, white fir, Abies concolor, incense cedar, Calocedrus decurrens, and California black oak, Quercus kelloggii. The common shrubs are greenleaf manzanita, Arctostaphylos patula, Ceanothus cordulatus, the shrubby form of the tanbark-oak, Lithocarpus densiflora var. echinoides, and some huckleberry oak, Quercus vaccinifolia. There are a number of wildflowers including three species of violets, Viola purpurea ssp., Viola lobata, and the rare Viola tomentosa. Integrity: The area is bordered on two sides by roads and it has been logged and later subjected to roadside clean-up activities. Use: Research, educational, observational. September 1975
