Map Satellite A variety of plant communities is found in this canyon, one of the major drainages of the Chino Hills. Of particular note is the California walnut, Juglans californica, which is found in abundance on the canyon slopes. Other trees include coast live oak, Quercus agrifolia, and Engelmann oak, Quercus engelmannii. Along the intermittent stream on the floor of the canyon is a riparian community dominated by sycamore, Platanus racemosa. Coastal sage scrub and chaparral also occur within the area. There is a variety of animals present, typical of the upper Sonoran zone. Rocks of the canyon slopes are of Upper Miocene marine origin and include gray to black laminated siltstones arid lighter feldspathic sandstones. Integrity: A highway traverses the canyon and there are several buildings. A spring in the canyon is being used commercially. Use: Private August 1976
