Map Satellite On the southwestern face of the Chino Hills is this large area which, in many respects, is a virtual nature reserve. The dominant vegetative community is the Southern oak woodland, with coast live oak, Quercus agrifolia, mesa oak, Quercus engelmannii, squaw bush, Rhus trilobata, lemonadeberry, Rhus integrifolia, and sugar bush, Rhus ovata. Of particular note are the heavily forested areas of California walnut, Juglans californica. On the canyon floor, where there is an intermittent stream, is a somewhat depauperate riparian community. In portions of the area chaparral dominates. Animal life is typical of the Southern California upper Sonoran. Integrity: There is a road on the canyon floor and there are various dirt roads on the hillsides; power lines cross the area and there are water tanks and camp buildings on the site, as it is used as a Boy Scout camp.
