Horseshoe Bend

Map     Satellite

Here the Santa Ana River makes a sharp bend and has formed a comparatively broad alluvial plain which supports an excellent riparian community, one of the better examples along the well-channeled river.  In this rather dense vegetation, sycamore, Platanus racemosa, and white alder, Alnus rhombifolia, form a woodland near the river, with coast live oak, Quercus agrifolia, intergrading.

There is a variety of animal life in the area.

Integrity:  There are some dirt roads as well as a picnic ground in the area; however, the vegetation is in very good condition.

Use:  Research, educational, observational, present.
