Map Satellite This area is one of the best remaining diverse chaparral areas along the heavily populated Orange County coast. Elements of coastal sage scrub, southern oak woodland and chaparral intermix to provide several ecosystems.. Several species of the native succulent genus Dudleya are found here, including Dudleya lanceolata, Dudleya pulverulenta, Dudleya edulis, and the rare Dudleya stolonifera. The latter two form occasional hybrids, some apparently second generation. The transition plants are a dramatic example of the evolutionary process. Several disjuncts of note occur here also; Cneoridium dumosum, Calochortus weedii, and Ceanothus verrucosus reach their distributional limits here. The marine breccia bluffs, terraces and headwalls create a spectacular setting. Integrity: Development has been limited to a water tank, some dirt roads, firebreaks, and on the creek a sewage treatment plant within the area; however, on the western edge housing developments abut. Use: Research, educational, light recreational. February 1975
