Map Satellite High in the Santa Ana Mountains is this potrero, the only one in the County. The dominant vegetation is grassland and, though exotics are present, it is probably the best example in the County. There is also an open oak woodland, with coast live oak, Quercus agrifolia, the dominant. Bordering and intergrading with the grassland is chaparral, with Ceanothus spp. and scrub oak, Quercus sp., prominent. A small creek cuts through the area and there is a spring. The underlying rock is Mesozoic granitic. Integrity: There are trails, a jeep road and a campground in the area. There has been some impact on the vegetation but much remains relatively undisturbed. Use: Research, educational, observational, present. March 1977
