Yaeger Mesa

Map     Satellite

This small mesa on the north slope of Los Pinos Peak is covered with a luxuriant growth of bracken fern, Pteridium aquilinum, with a variety of grasses intermixed.  Immediately surrounding and intergrading into the fern-grassland is an oak woodland, with coast live oak, Quercus agrifolia, dominant. This, in turn, gives way to chaparral, with chamise, Adenostoma fasciculatum, and California buckwheat, Eriogonum fasciculatum, prominent.

Some big-cone Douglas fir, Pseudotsuga macrocarpa, are present.

Integrity:  The area is undisturbed. Use:  Private
