Two plant communities, a pinyon-juniper woodland with Pinus monophylla, Juniperus occidentalis and, in the understory, mountain mahogany, Cercocarpus ledifolius, and a ponderosa pine forest, with Pinus ponderosa dominant, meet in this area.

At least six rare or uncommon plants occur here. They are Castilleja angustifolia, Castilleja cinerea, Castilleja lasiorhyncha, Ivesia argyrocoma, Mimulus purpureus  and Taraxacum californicum.

Integrity:  There are roads and a campsite, but the vegetation is relatively undisturbed.

Use:  Research, educational, observational, present.
