Brovelli Woods
Map SatelliteOn the flood plain of the Mokelumne River north of Lodi is a remnant typical of dense forests that once covered the alluvial fans of the valley floor. The dominant species are the valley oak, Quercus lobata, interior live oak, Quercus wislizenii, and the California buckeye, Aesculus californica. The latter, which find optimum conditions here, are some 12 meters (40 feet) or more tall.
A number of small mammals and mule deer, Odocoileus hemionus, uncommon on the valley floor, 83 species of birds, as well as a variety of other animals have been observed here.
The area is flat and intersected by fingers of the flood lake Tracy Lake.
Integrity: A few fences and several dirt roads are located in the area. The area has been intensively grazed and the understory altered.
Use: Private
