Camp San Luis Obispo Relict Grasslands

Along the northern boundary of this former military reservation are several relict stands of grasslands, typical of the original Central Valley grasslands. The dominant grass is purple needlegrass, Nassella pulchra, which occurs here with Melica californica and Vulpia (Festuca) sp.(See California State Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo Nassella (Stipa) Stands).
