La Panza Ranch

Map     Satellite

La Panza Ranch supports several plant communities, including an oak woodland, chaparral, grassland and riparian. Dominants in the woodland are blue oak and valley oak, Quercus douglasii and Quercus lobata; in the chaparral, Adenostoma fasciculatum.

Along the creek beds the sycamore, Platanus racemosa, is common and, on San Juan Creek, ferns are numerous. During wet years there is a striking display of annuals in the grassland.

Integrity: Much of the grassland is over-grazed and there are roads in the area.
