San Pedro Creek
Map SatelliteThis area includes portions of the Middle and South Forks of San Pedro Creek as well as the corridors immediately adjacent. Riparian vegetation here includes red alder, Alnus rubra, creek dogwood, Cornus sericea ssp. sericea, and arroyo willow, Salix lasiolepis.
There is some chaparral and coastal scrub in the area, and it is possible that the rare Arctostaphylos montaraensis occurs here.
Steelhead, Salmo gairdnerii gairdnerii, spawn in these creeks. Some 55 families of aquatic insects have been recorded in the streams.
Integrity: Though the lower section of the creek passes through residential areas, these upper portions lie in relatively undisturbed land which is both County park and watershed.
Use: Research, educational, observational.
