Atascadero Creek Floodplan

Map     Satellite

This small portion of Atascadero Creek is a flood-plain with characteristic riparian flora in juxtaposition to coastal sage scrub, the latter occupying most of the area.  Baccharis pilularis is dominant in the scrub.

Several pairs of the white-tailed kite, Elanus leucurus, nest here, and additional kites roost and feed in the area.

Integrity: Feral animals, exotics, and possible channelization of the stream and other human encroachments have disturbed the area.
