Sims Coulter Pine Grove

Map     Satellite

A fine stand of the Coulter pine, Pinus coulteri, is found here, one of the best on the seaward slopes of the Santa Ynez Mountains.  It is probably a relict stand.

Much of the area is in chaparral composed of Ceanothus spp., Arctostaphylos spp., etc.  Madrone, Arbutus menziesii, is also present.

Integrity:  A lodge and a few permanent cabins exist on the site, but the stand is undisturbed.

Use:  Private
