Guadalupe and Rincon Creek Area
Map SatelliteLying to the west of Los Capitancillos Hills and to the northeast of Mount Umunhum, this area supports an oak woodland and, on the serpentine soils, grassland. The dominants in the woodland are the coast live oak, Quercus agrifolia, and madrone, Arbutus menziesii. The woodland and some chaparral cover the slopes, while the grasslands occupy the more level areas. The rare Cirsium fontinale var. campylon is found growing in a boggy spring area.
Several small spring-fed tributaries rise here and flow into the Guadalupe or the Rincon, which join on the property.
There are serpentine outcrops and some limestone.
Integrity: The area is relatively undisturbed.
