Bully Choop
Map SatelliteOn the slopes of this high, isolated peak lying in the Trinity Mountains near the northwestern border of the Sacramento Valley four plant communities are represented. They are Jeffrey pine, Pinus jeffreyi, woodland, montane chaparral, red fir, Abies magnifica, forest and white fir, Abies concolor, forest. There is also a disjunct stand of the Western white pine, Pinus monticola. It is separated from the nearest population by some 50 kilometers (30 miles).
The very rare variety of the squaw carpet, Ceanothus prostratus var. laxus, is known from this and one other locale.
On the mountain there are significant areas of contact between ultrabasic and sedimentary rock. These areas have not been thoroughly investigated.
Integrity: A poor quality road winds its way to the top where there is a fire lookout. The area is relatively undisturbed.
Use: Research, educational, observational.
