The forest in this area is a mixed conifer with such species as ponderosa pine, Pinus ponderosa, Jeffrey pine, Pinus jeffreyi, Douglas fir, Pseudotsuga menziesii, white fir, Abies concolor, and incense cedar, Calocedrus decurrens. There are a few black oaks, Quercus kelloggii.

Of note is the occurrence of the Engelmann spruce, Picea engelmannii. This is the southernmost and one of the two known localities in California for this species which is common to the north. Here, it is separated from the Russian Peak populations by 100 kilometers (60 miles).
