Lack Creek Area
Map SatelliteChaparral is the dominant community in this area, the headwaters of Lack Creek. Several chaparral species--chamise, Adenostoma fasciculatum, and scrub oak, Quercus berberidifolia--are at or near their northeastern range limits here. There is also a stand of MacNab cypress, Cupressus macnabiana.
Lack Creek is intermittent here, but several permanent pools support a population of the chub, Gila bicolor.
Integrity: The area was burned within the past 15 years and is revegetating.
Use: Research, educational, observational. Some private.
