Green Valley Falls

Map     Satellite

At the head of Green Valley, Wild Horse Creek forms a waterfall some 50 meters (160 feet) high, the highest in the County. Along the creek there is a well-developed riparian community with white alder, Alnus rhombifolia, big-leaf maple, Acer macrophyllum, and several species of oak, Quercus spp. It is also known as a collecting site for various species of red algae, Rhodophyta.

There is a variety of animal life in the area including what is probably the only population of water ouzel, Cinclus mexicanus, in the County.

The falls have cut through the Pliocene Sonoma volcanics, possibly along a fault line.

Integrity: The area is virtually undisturbed, as it is a part of the Vallejo City water supply and is generally not open to the public.
